Kachina Ornaments
The Kachina ornaments that we sell are made in the likeness of various Hopi figures each one representing one of the of Hopi spirits. Kachinas represent the forces of nature and play an important part in the seasonal ceremonies of the Hopi. During these periods the costumed members of the tribe each representing a different spirit perform in rituals acting as intermediaries between the human world and the spirit world. They are believed to embody that spirit and so can interact with the tribal members in attendance.
