We are pleased to offer a collection of unique painted clay ornaments from the Nahua Indians of Mexico
In the Natural Clay Technique, the pieces are fired and the designs sketched onto the clay with drawing ink. The designs are then gradually filled in with acrylic paint colors. In the Blue Clay Technique, the pieces are first primed with cobalt blue paint and then the design work is put down with light colors and filled in with other more vibrant colors.
The result is that each piece is as unique as the artist that painted it and no two are ever the same. The photos below show a sampling of the designs we stock. The piece you get will be the same shape but may vary in the colors of the design painted on it.
